I?m sorry to hear about your father in law. It is unfortunate that he doesn?t have life insurance to provide for his family if he passes away. Of course, there are many good treatments for cancer these days and he may live a very long time or even be cured, so while it is good to think about the future and plan, don?t count him out yet.
Generally, his family should talk to someone at the hospital or through the doctors office to find local support groups and places that can help them deal with the issues they face, including planning for their finances if he passes away. There are also national organizations that can get them to support services. There are three links below that can help.
In the US, generally his family will receive survivors benefits from the Social Security Administration. It?s not really enough to support everyone but can be of assistance in the event of his death. There?s SSA publications and their website has lots of info on what resources are available.
You should not to post questions like this if your goal is for people to send you money. Lots of well meaning people have been scammed by false claims of cancer. See a couple of links below. Although this may not be your situation, no one should give money to an individual who claims to have cancer. If you want to help, give money to recognized charities that assist cancer patients and their families so you know your money will go toward the purpose it was intended and help someone who is truly needy.
