Health Care Worker Accused of Stealing $2,100 in Checks - Fairfield ...

A Bridgeport woman faces larceny and forgery charges after she was arrested for allegedly stealing checks from an elderly Fairfield woman, police said.

The investigation that resulted in the arrest of Vanessa Taylor, 45, began in April of 2008, when the daughter of a? 90-year-old Oldfield Drive resident reported that she suspected her mother's home health care worker stole checks, forged her mother's signature, and cashed them, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.

According to the police report, the victim accused Taylor of stealing her checkbook and cashing $2,100 in checks from her People's United Bank Account.

During the investigation, police found that Taylor allegedly used the victim's People's Bank account to pay her own Cablevision bills over a three-month period between February and April 2008, totaling $663, according to the report.

Fairfield police worked in cooperating with Peoples United Bank Fraud Investigators to solve and crime and prevent further financial hardship to the victim.

Taylor was arrested on a warrant for second-degree larceny and second-degree forgery on Thursday, Nov. 29. She was held in lieu of a $3,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
