November is National Adoption month | KY Kids in Focus

?

By Amy Swann

All children deserves to grow up in a safe, loving and permanent home. ?Every child who has been placed in foster care should be promised a family who can provide that for them. Sadly, every year there are more than 100,000 children in public foster care waiting to be adopted because they do not have the option of returning to their parents or other relatives. In Kentucky, more than 1,900 children are hoping to be adopted by someone they can call Mom or Dad for the rest of their life.

November is National Adoption Month ? a time to raise awareness about children in foster care waiting to be adopted by a forever family. Do you know someone who is considering expanding their family? Encourage them to check out this site where they can view Kentucky children waiting to be adopted by a loving family. The Cabinet for Health and Family Services also has a travelling photo exhibit featuring 23 children in their Special Needs Adoption Program. The sixth annual Shining Star Gallery was recently unveiled at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, and will be on display for the rest of the month at the Louisville Metro Hall of Justice at 600 W. Jefferson Street. The exhibit will tour to various sites across the state ? stay tuned to www.wednesdayschild.com for the schedule.
